Hot fire, hot food, cool drinks, and lively campfire music.
Private native Tallgrass Prairie, purposefully managed to increase the
quality of the burn. Guaranteed burning dates so you don’t have to
worry about visiting The Flint Hills too early or too late to catch
the burning. An intense hands-on experience, so bring your camera and
rugged, all-weather clothes.
You will:
- Torch
the prairie grass and “drag fire” (under experienced
supervision).
- Feel
the heat, hear the crackle, smell the smoke, and witness the leaping
flames, all as close as you want to be.
- Understand how pioneer families felt as they watched a
wildfire approaching their "little home on the prairie”.
- Participate in an afternoon and after dark burn.
- Learn
how the prairie evolved under the influence of natural fires and why
prairie fire was used by Native Americans and now by modern
ranchers.
- Enjoy
delicious food and great music presented in a native limestone
building.
- Meet
other interesting people who also love the Flint Hills.
- See
additional information on our partner site www.prairiefireinn.com/flames.html
